Chores, chores, chores

Today was not particularly fun, but necessary when RVing.  We started the day with a breakfast made by our tour guides, and then they walked us through what the next few days are going to look like.  The breakfast took them quite a while to make, and for the work they did, not that spectacular.  So, I walked back to the RV and hid two bloody marys in our travel mugs.  That helped pass the time while we waited and then sat through the trip log meeting.  Two HOURS later, we were back in the RV.

After cleaning the bathroom and ‘kitchen,’ I took a load of laundry to the small laundromat here at the campground.  There were four washers and four dryers, and only one of them was out of order.  I think it’s a requirement at any campground that at least one isn’t working.  Fortunately I got there before the rush and was able to snag an empty washer. For some reason you aren’t allowed to do laundry at this campground between 6:00 and 11:00 AM.  Not sure why… it would only take  15 minutes to clean it so I doubt that was the reason.  It was 11:20 though, so I was good to go.

Meanwhile, Steve stayed at the RV and started to get things ready for our 5-6 hour drive tomorrow.  We are headed to North Sydney, Nova Scotia, and it is there we will catch an overnight ferry to Newfoundland.  I’m really looking forward to that!

Once laundry was done, we headed out for groceries.  We went to a Walmart because we needed to buy DEF (diesel exhaust fluid.). All diesel engines are required to add this every 2000 miles or so.  We have added it once this trip already and will soon need more.  It can be hard to find in Canada so we bought two.  We got some groceries and a few things we needed, and I was glad to get out of there.  It was a crowded store with little room between aisles.  There were lots of items that weren’t familiar to us, and I had a hard time finding things because it wasn’t organized in a way that was familiar at all.  It didn’t help that we didn’t even know if the store carried some of the things we wanted.  Also, Canada seems to be boycotting some America items so we really didn’t know what we were doing.  I don’t blame Canada, of course, it just made things difficult.

Tomorrow before we pull out, we need to be measured from stem to stern in anticipation of the ferry ride.  They pack things in pretty tight, so they need to know how long we are with the truck attached.  We only have a ballpark idea right now, but I assume once the ferry officials do their own measurements, we’ll know right down to the inch…uh, centimeter!

This has nothing to do with our trip, but just have to share the cute pic of our granddaughter we got today!
