And the wind doth blow…

Today we traveled from Saint John, New Brunswick to Halifax, Nova Scotia.  It was a beautiful drive, but boy-howdy the wind was blowing! I took a picture of the flags as we crossed over into Nova Scotia and hoped the picture showed how briskly the wind made the flags fly at attention.

Steve did a great job driving through it all, but he was pretty exhausted by the time we arrived at our campground.  When we were about an hour and a half from our destination, I got a text from one our caravan friends we had met up with in Niagara… all it said was ‘beep beep, you are now joining your caravan!’ along with a picture of us!  Turns out both RVs were right behind us!  We traveled the rest of the way with them and watched each other as we swayed back and forth with the wind! The others had come from Prince Edward Island and they said the wind was even worse there… not fun when you are driving a giant toaster-shaped vehicle!

This is us!  Our friends said they recognized the Jayhawk sticker on the back!

Ken and Deb in front… Kevin and Kelly behind

We are very near the Bay of Fundy.  The big caravan has already done a rafting trip on the bore tide, and I am so disappointed we didn’t get to do that.  Since the rest of the caravan doesn’t show up until the day after tomorrow, I think Steve and I might drive the hour tomorrow to go see the tide come in.  It’s such an amazing phenomenon that I don’t want to miss it since we are so close.  We did cross a river today shortly before Halifax, and we did see a small wave moving up the river.  It was such an odd sight and sound cool to see.  I wish I knew exactly where we were and what we were looking at.

Once we all settled into our RV sites, Steve and I ran a quick errand to a market for a few things and then to a liquor store.  Steve will likely talk more about that when he pipes in tomorrow.  We had some leftover ribs I had in the freezer for dinner, and then joined our friends outside for a drink and a little down time.  We were all tired after a long, windy, travel day, so we called it an early night.  Hopefully tomorrow the wind does down as we explore the area.  Until then… good night!
