Swanzey, New Hampshire

I can’t believe we are in New England! This is probably my favorite place in the whole country. And, we are with family tonight which is even better!  We arrived before noon so had the whole day here. We did have to be given modified directions to their house since Swanzey has 8 covered bridges… none of them designed for RVs. Rick told us there are three fire stations here because of all those bridges… those trucks don’t fit either.

I started the visit by taking a fall walking up a step in their garage. I fell really hard on my right knee. Fortunately Rick, just having had knee surgery himself and being an EMT, had a great icing system, and along with Steve’s Aleve, I was well taken care of. I thought I might have to go for an X-ray, but I’m able to walk on it and bend it, so likely just a bad bruise. I’m sore again this morning and just mad it happened!

Vicki and Rick’s house and property are beautiful! They built it themselves with lots of help from friends and family. Their back deck, where I recuperated from my fall, has a front and center view to Mt. Monadnock. Maggie and I enjoyed the view, saw a wild turkey, and saw both Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers. I used my Merlin app and it was fun to see the different birds that are here.

We had a wonderful steak dinner and sat on the back deck until bedtime. Did I mention it was only in the 70s and lower humidity?  It was the best weather we’ve had on the trip so far!  It was really a wonderful, too-short visit. Today we head to brother Marc and Karen in Maine. Did I mention I love it here?!!!!
